​We were weary of the modern literary publishers showering our spectacular selves with rust, dust and flavour-of-the-week fads. We now live in the futures so many of our favourite writers prophesised. They imagined a sick society getting sicker. We honour them by scribing that sicker society with all the self-awareness, self-loathing, self-belief that comes with living on a dying planet.
